When your empire grows, your hyperjump range increases and you start using bigger (slower) ships, moving your fleets around will start to cost a lot of time. This structure makes hyperjump travel faster.

In-game Description[]

The Acceleration Gate is a special building that increases the speed of spaceships leaving the system and halves the time required to prepare for hyperjumps.

Requirements[]

In order to build an Acceleration Gate, Acceleration Gate research has to be finished.

No other Buildings are needed to construct an Acceleration Gate.

A bonus of "100% Acceleration" means your fleet will travel twice as fast, halving transit time; an Acceleration Gate 10 does not grant instantaneous travel.

Only works on outbound traffic; if the destination your fleet is going to has no Acceleration Gate, the return trip will take the regular amount of time.
