This approach is very good at making resources available as quickly as possible on all planets in the system, but has the downside of using local storehouses very inefficiently; their capacity can go almost unused in some situations. Before starting a new system, decide whether to give each planet its own storage (using the Orbital Resource Dock only to quickly transport resources from planet to planet) or to build big Orbital Resource Docks on two or three planets (and completely skip building local storage). |

Resource Dock
Serves as a system-wide storage for resources. It is an extremely useful structure that can be loaded and unloaded with resources without delay. Therefore, it can be used to transport resources from one planet to another within a system.
In-game Description
An Orbital Resource Dock allows some of a player's resources to be stored in orbit. One dock functions for all planets the player has in the system. This makes it unnecessary to transport resources from planet to planet. Caches don’t influence Resource Docks.
Requirements
In order to build a Resource Dock, Orbital Resource Dock research has to be finished.
No other Buildings are needed to construct a Resource Dock.

Bonuses
The following Technologies affect the properties in above table:
- Module Constructions +40% to construction speed.
- Multidimensional Space +35% to storehouse capacity.
- New Metamaterials +10% of a storehouse becomes invisible to enemy fleets.
- Composite Constructions +50% to building durability.
Note
When there are multiple Resource Docks in a single system, they are essentially treated as a single, large Resource Dock.
Resourced produced by mines or unloaded by ships are first stored in the Orbital Resource Dock. When that is full, the loot returned by ships goes to the storehouses on the planet in the innermost (lowest-numbered) orbit and resources produced by mines will be stored in storehouses on their own planet. However, when resources are consumed, they are first taken from local storehouses and only when those are empty will they be supplied by the Orbital Resource Dock.
